Use the Secretary of State’s website (choose the option “Entity Name”) to search the business database and see if the name is already registered. If there are no search results, the name is available.
Domestic LLC – For an LLC located within Alabama.
Foreign LLC – For a business with a principal office location outside Alabama seeking to do business within the State.
Step 3 – Pay the fee that is associated with your filing and attach to the Certificate of Formation. Make all checks payable to the ‘Alabama Secretary of State’.
Domestic – $100
Foreign – $150
Step 4 – Mail the fee and Certificate of Formation to the following address;
Domestic – Your local Probate County Office
Foreign – Office of the Secretary of State, PO Box 5616, Montgomery, AL 36103
After creation the Privilege Tax Form must be filed within 2.5 months.
